9 Months Old

Our sweet little boy turned 9 months old today! I really cannot believe that I am going to have to start planning his 1st birthday party soon. This past month has been so exciting! Jack has started to do so many new things.

* I started giving him the Gerber Puffs last month so since he has gotten the hang of them, I just started giving him good ole Cheerios. He loves them and he just figured out how to get them into his mouth this past week.

*He finally started rolling over from his back to his tummy! YEA!! Now he doesn't start screaming when he is on his tummy. Once he is on his tummy he pushes himself up... I guess we will have a crawler soon!

*He pulls himself up on everything. He hasn't gotten to his feet yet, but he pulls himself up about half way and then gets stuck and looks at you like, "I am stuck and I don't know what to do." It is so cute, but he has face planted a few times.

*Jack has become quite the babbler. He started throwing out the da da da's and gi gi gi's. So Rocco and Jack's Aunt Jeana (GiGi) are in heaven because he is saying their names. He also makes a sound that almost sounds like he is saying hi or hey. It is too cute.

* We started giving Jack meats. He loves them! But I haven't figured out how he can eat those meats and not carrots! The meat baby foods taste HORRIBLE, but he will eat the whole jar. He still gags at the carrots. He is proving to be a good littler eater! I weighed him this morning and he was 18.2lbs!

*He loves other little babies/toddlers. He now tries to talk to the other kids and wants to grab their hands or face... I guess which ever is closer to grab at. He is just so interested in the other kids. It cracks me up every time.

Borderfest 1/2 Marathon

This morning I ran in the 1st Borderfest 1/2 Marathon with two of my really good friends, Vicki and Ashley. It was a beautiful day for the race. It was pretty cool at the start, but warmed up by the 3rd mile or so. Luckily, we saw a friend of ours cheering and we threw her our jackets. The race was flat as can be and not very scenic! The highlights of the run was getting to run right next to the new border wall and seeing several border patrol men standing guard with their big ole guns. At least we know no runners were kidnapped during the race! The finish line was inside the arena where the Killer Bees (hockey team) play. I just had to beat this older winter Texan so I sped past her before the finish line, to finish with a time of 1:48:32 (according to my watch). I had not been training very much so I was pleasantly surprised at how well Ashley and I did. Unfortunately, they were a little unorganized and the water was not at the finish line! We had to walk around to search for the water tables. Not cool after you just ran 13.1 miles! I guess they'll figure it out for next year. After I got home Vicki sent me a text saying I got 2nd place for my age group! Haha! I guess I should have stuck around for my medal, but I had no idea! Oh well, it was a great race and a great day! I can't complain!

Valentine's Day

My wonderful husband bought me a Chan Luu bracelet for Valentine's Day! What a great surprise! Again, he had a little guidance from Vicki, but you have to give him credit for knowing who to ask for help! LOL.



Jack had a cute onesie for Valentine's Day that said "#1 with the ladies."



We didn't really do anything exciting for Valentine's Day since it was on a Monday. Monday's are super busy for Rocco. He works all day, comes home and changes and goes to the Elks Lodge to cook hamburgers and then he has his poker night at his friend, Steven Nittler's house. So we didn't get to celebrate, but the gift sure made up for that this year!

Mommy Turns 28!

This past Sunday, February 13th, was my 28th birthday. Whooptie! I was not very excited about my 28th birthday at all, but Rocco and Jack had other plans.

On Saturday night, the 12th, Rocco and I went out to eat with some of my best friends and their husbands. We went to our favorite sushi restaurant, Hayashi, in McAllen. Joann came over and watched Jack for us so we could have a baby free night out. When we got to the restaurant Rocco wanted me to open one of my birthday gifts because I already knew what it was because I had received a text message and two emails about my recent AT&T purchase of an iPhone. So my super awesome husband got me a new iPhone 4 since my iPhone 3 has been slow as molasses lately. I had been telling him I needed a new phone for a while, but he didn't believe me until he tried to use it himself. It was a great surprise even if I figured it out before he gave it to me. Rocco and Jack also bought me kettlebells. They are great and I have enjoyed getting to use them while Jack takes his naps during the day. At the end of dinner we had cake made by Vicki's mom and daughter, Alex. It was a delicious chocolate cake with a mini heart shaped cake on top decorated by Alex. It was so cute! I took some pictures of it on my new phone, but when I hooked it up to my iTunes it deleted all my birthday pictures! But the cake was super cute and super YUMMY!



On Sunday, my birthday, I got to go have a pedicure with my good friend, Vicki. It was so nice to get out and have some pampering! While I was gone my wonderful husband was putting together a surprise party for me. He inivited some of our good friends and their families over for lunch. He had asked me what I wanted to eat for my birthday and I told him I wanted him to make me his stuffed pork chops, not knowing he would have to make 15 of them! haha! Everyone brought a dish to help Rocco out. We even had more cake! I think I ate cake everyday for a week! Everything was just perfect! I couldn't have asked for a better day. I had my little family and good friends around me to celebrate... what more could you ask for?






I owe a BIG thank you to my hubby for making my 28th birthday such a great day and to Vicki for helping my hubby pull it off! I am so lucky to have both of you in my life and for always being there for me! I love ya'll!

P.S. at the end of the party Rocco told me that being a stay at home mom or a single mom has to be a super hard job because he had to cook, clean and take care of Jack while I was out getting my pedicure and he was trying to get ready for the party! I thought that was funny! Poor guy, but he did a fabulous job!

Sand is Yummy!

Yesterday we decided to head to the beach since the weather has been in the 80's! Our good friends Andrea and Art and their daughter, Camille came with us. Camille is 5 months old and one of Jack's favorite girl friends. We went to tried to go to dinner at Gabriella's, but there was an hour wait and with two babies that is never a good idea. So we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Scampi's. It was so yummy and both babies did great! Some of our othere friends Ashley and Dusty met us there with Ashley's brother who was visiting from Virginia. It was a nice evening out even with the babies in tow.
This morning we got up and went to breakfast. We ate at Isabel Cafe, one of Andrea and Arts favorite places in Port Isabel (on the other side of the bridge from South Padre Island). Rocco and I loved it! After breakfast the babies took naps and the Mommy's went for a nice long walk on the beach. When we got back we lathered up the babies in SPF 100 lotion and headed to the beach. Jack LOVED the sand! He was digging holes and even ate a few handfuls! He never even made a face… such a boy! We can't wait to take him out again! We had a great time!!

8 Months Old

On February 7th, Jack turned 8 months old! HOLY COW does time fly fast! At 8 months old Jack is weighing in at 17.6 lbs based on Mommy's scale and math skills.

Jacks new tricks at 8 months old are blowing, fake coughing and staying on his tummy and pushing up on his arms. I am hoping that he is crawling within the next few weeks. Jack loves to eat, read books, play with his blocks, going to The Little Gym, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, rolling and catching a ball, balloons and bubbles.

We are having lots of fun with Jack! We are looking forward to the next few months and what they have to bring for our little baldie.

Houston Half Marathon

My good friend Jami and I ran in the Houston half marathon this past Sunday. We had a great time even though we got rained on.
